DriftToy | Brought back to life

1992 Nissan 240sx convertible
KA24DE engine

This feature may not stand out to magazine covers, and their creators… but it’s these sorts of cars that I think deserve the spotlight.  It’s one of the cars that the owner of the car took what they could gather, and made it into something that is uniquely their own.

That leads to something I’ve noticed lately, the growing amount of what I call “elitist” enthusiasts. People who may have started off like most of us, going to shows/events with a gleam in our eyes, and so much excitement over things that now seem so simple. Maybe even rolling up to meets in an all stock car, just wanting to communicate and learn. It seems to me, a lot of people have lost sight of that. Now all they do is hold themselves, and certain others, up above everyone else. They forget what originally made them love being an enthusiast. The camaraderie, meeting new people, being proud of what you had… no matter how simple it was. As long as this “elitist” attitude continues to grow, the industry will fail. The attitude just runs away the newcomers, makes the thought of owning anything less impressive overwhelming, and the ultimate goal too far out of reach.

Neither this car, nor its owner is “elitist”. Anyone who has met Juan “Drifttoy”, I’m sure will agree. He always shows up, ready to talk and share his enthusiasm. This feature is titled “brought back to life”, because like so many of us have attempted, Juan brought this car back from dead. It started with the simple desire to own a “Silvia” convertible.  Juan picked up a 240sx shell and begun the conversion to his vision, All the while, focusing on the small details and leaving nothing without his flavor. Show the man some love for his hard work. He definitely deserves it.
